Rock Dimensions Teen Climbing Camp Kicks off July 27
Attendees to the Rock Dimensions Teen Climbing Camp will learn various aspects of climbing, including the tower at Footsloggers, outdoor climbing at Ship Rock, bouldering and even multi-pitch climbing for those who attend the final two days.
Before summer vacation ends Rock Dimensions is offering the opportunity for teenagers to get out of the house and into nature. Co-owners Jenny Allen and Ryan Beasley are gearing up for their second annual five-day Teen Climbing Camp that begins on Monday, July 27.
“Everyone can find challenge and success,” said Allen, an avid climber with 12 years of experience.
Teens are welcome to attend the first three days for $325 per person or for the whole week for $575. Each day, the activities are organized to allow different ages and skill sets the chance to improve their abilities and enjoy the various aspects of climbing, including the tower at Footsloggers, outdoor climbing at Ship Rock, bouldering and even multi-pitch climbing for those who attend the final two days.
All instructors are certified through the Professional Climbing Instructors Association and in Wilderness First Response and First Aid. Groups are kept small with a ratio of at least one instructor for every five campers, which allows the experience to be specialized to the individuals.
According to Allen, some families that regularly vacation in the Boone area schedule their time off during the camps to allow their kids to attend. “Four of the five kids in camp right now came last year,” she said.
Rock Dimensions offers more than just camps for kids and teens. Groups of two to four people can book half day climbing tours for $75 per person with as little as a days notice by calling 828-265-3544. Also, for larger groups, customizable camps are available.
