Paws & Claws Resale Shop Closed Temporarily for Remodeling

The Avery Humane Society announced this week that the Paws & Claws Resale Shop, located on New Vale Road in Newland, will close for the first three weeks in August while the building undergoes remodeling.
The shop will be open this Thursday and Friday, July 30 and 31, but will close beginning Saturday, August 1. The new and improved shop will reopen Thursday, August 20, with a greater variety of quality merchandise ranging from knick-knacks to fine furniture, including some antiques.
“We need time to get some painting done and have shelving units built that will better display all of the wonderful merchandise available at Paws & Claws,” said Marti Huizenga, chairperson of the Friends of the Shelter committee that will manage the resale shop when it reopens. “We will use that time to organize many new deliveries of beautiful furniture and accessories donated by a number of very generous decorators and homeowners from across the southeast.”
The Paws & Claws Resale Shop is located at 520 New Vale Road in Newland, behind the Ingles shopping center. Proceeds generated at the shop go toward the care and feeding of animals brought to the Humane Society shelter in Altamont, and toward the construction of a new shelter on property adjoining the resale shop on New Vale Road in Newland.
