Riverwalk Arts Festival in Newland August 15
Handcrafted pottery is among many items available at the Riverwalk Arts and Crafts Festival in Newland on Saturday, August 15.The annual Riverwalk Arts and Crafts Festival will take place at Newland’s Riverwalk Park on Saturday, August 15, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is free.
The summer arts festival is a longstanding tradition in Avery County and features handmade arts and crafts, a children’s activity corner, food and entertainment. The Avery County Arts Council sponsors the festival.
Last year's event featured 60 vendors selling handcrafted pottery, jewelry, wooden utensils, original paintings, limited edition prints, handmade journals, candles, soaps, birdhouses, flutes and more. A jury committee selects all vendors.
The creative talent on display at the Riverwalk comes from various points around the Southeast, with the majority from North Carolina and Tennessee. “Plus, we're going to feature local musicians and entertainers this year during the festival,” said Freda Greene, arts council president.
Plenty of parking is available at Riverwalk Park—simply park in the lot adjacent to the Lowes grocery store and stroll on over. For more information, contact the Avery Arts Council office at 828-898-4292 or click to www.averycountyartscouncil.org.
