Eat at Panera and Support OASIS This Friday
This Friday, August 7, Panera Bread will donate 10 percent of its lunchtime profits to OASIS, Inc., Watauga County’s domestic violence and sexual assault crisis response agency. Between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., diners can help raise funds for one of the area’s most needed organizations simply by enjoying a delicious lunch.
OASIS (Opposing Abuse with Service, Information and Shelter) has been a part of the High Country for more than 31 years, providing crisis support, shelter, referrals and advocacy for those affected by domestic or sexual violence, and bringing prevention education to local schools, area civic organizations, faith communities and other local groups. In 2008, OASIS provided direct services for more than 260 survivors and more than 160 children. Over the past year, the agency has seen an increase of 20 percent in requests for service.
Panera Bread, which opened a store at the Boone Mall in 2007, selected OASIS as one of its local recipients of funding support through the company’s Operation Dough-Nation programs as well as other special events.
For more information about OASIS, call 828-264-1532 Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. After-hours OASIS on-call staff can be reached by calling the 24-hour crisis line at 828-262-5035 or by contacting the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office at 828-264-3761 and requesting that OASIS staff be paged.
