Third Annual Casa Rustica Charity Golf Tournament August 27

The 3rd annual Casa Rustica Charity Golf Tournament will begin with a 1:00 p.m. shotgun start at RedTail Mountain Golf Club on Thursday, August 27.
“This year, we’re raising money for Hospitality House,” said Richard Pedroni, owner of Casa Rustica and head of the tournament.
“We wanted to give back something a little more local,” Pedroni said, adding that the tournament last year did benefit the local area, but 100 percent of this year’s proceeds will stay in the county.
Last year’s tournament benefited the North Carolina Multiple Sclerosis Society and proceeds from the inaugural tournament went to the Watauga Humane Society and the Watauga Rescue Squad.
The tournament features four-person teams and play is captain’s choice.
The entry fee of $100 per person includes a light lunch—served during registration at noon on the day of the event—the tournament and dinner and awards.
“We’ve had really good local support and we appreciate it because it makes for a good tournament,” Pedroni said.
Prizes are awarded for first, second and third place teams and individually for closest to the pin and the longest drive. The tournament also includes a $10,000 cash prize for a hole-in-one.
A raffle after the tournament will feature “everything from local restaurant gift certificates to an ASU golf bag, a homemade rocking chair by Boone Industries, a handmade quilt and ASU football memorabilia [and] a full year membership at RedTail,” Pedroni said.
Raffle tickets are sold separately, for $5 apiece or five for $20.
Tournament registration is still open and $100 hole sponsorships are still available, Pedroni said.
