Ashe County Little Theatre Presents A Walk Through Egypt August 20 through 23
Adapted by Reid Leonard from the novel by Clyde Edgerton, A Walk Through Egypt is the story of Mattie Rigsbee, a 78-year-old woman who forges an unlikely bond with Wesley, a troubled young man. Directed by Jeff Dreyer, the play will be performed on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, August 20, 21 and 22, at 7:30 p.m., and on Sunday, August 23 at 2:00 p.m.
“It really is a heartwarming story,” said Linda Harms, producer. Jan Boil, who, according to Harms, “has been doing plays with Ashe County for about 25 years,” portrays Rigsbee, and the part of Wesley is being played by John Harms.
Edgerton, a graduate from UNC-Chapel Hill is renown for his literature about southern culture, including the novels, The Bible Salesman, Where Trouble Sleeps, and Lunch at the Piccadilly.
