Bella Abzug To Appear At Cahill Book Signing Friday
Bella Abzug, the leading 1970’s feminist and member of Congress, who was responsible for the creation of Women’s Equality Day, which takes place on August 26, will make an appearance this Friday, August 14, at West Jefferson’s Acorn Gallery during the book signing of Women in the High Country by author Bernadette Cahill.
The book signing and Abzug’s appearance take place during West Jefferson’s third annual gallery crawl tomorrow from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Cahill is a regular contributor to High Country Press and High Country Magazine and her book includes articles about women that appeared in the two publications in 2007 and 2008. Women in the High Country, which features many local women, also includes much previously unpublished work in the form of background to articles, commentary and women’s history.
Acorn Gallery’s owner and artist, Raney Rogers, will take on the role of Abzug, host the event and also have her own art on display. Rogers is an award winning painter whose work appears in corporate and private collections throughout the world. Best known for her representational scenes of wildlife, land and seascapes, Rogers teaches workshops nationally and is currently writing a book about life on her farm.
Rogers’ daughter, Liz Rogers will perform music in the gallery’s gardens during the evening and refreshments will be provided. For more information, call 336-246-3388 or click to www.acorngallery.com.
