New River Blues Festival Returns to High Country September 6
Rob Baskerville and Penny Zamagni of The King BeesOn Sunday, Saturday 6, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m., you can get your dose of blues at the 7th annual New River Blues Festival in Jefferson. This event has become a destination for those looking for a relaxing day of listening to great blues music surrounded by the beauty of the mountains. Located at the Riverside Park at Jefferson Landing, you can hear the tunes, enjoy the food, drink, friends and scenery as one of the world’s oldest rivers moves slowly past adding its own rhythm to the sounds of the day.
Another great lineup of blues musicians will highlight the afternoon’s activities as they are backed up by locally grown and internationally known, The King Bees. North Carolina Blues legend, Pop Ferguson, will be on hand laying down some cool riffs and Empress of the Blues, Sandra Hall, will be here to add her vocal talent to the afternoon. There will even be a few surprises during the day.
The music will start at 1:00 and go until 6:00 p.m. The tickets will be $10 in advance and $12 at the gate for adults, with children 12 and under are free. Advanced sale tickets started August 1 and can be purchased through Celtic Force Enterprises at www.thecelticforce.com. Attendees should bring a chair or blanket for seating. Coolers and pets are not allowed.
Celtic Force Enterprises and MellowDown Productions produce the event and Jefferson Landing, Mountain Times, High Country Press and Jefferson Rent-All sponsor the event. The West Jefferson Lions Club will handle ticketing at the gate and parking.
