Think Globally, Drink Locally!

2nd Annual High Country Beer Festival at Broyhill Inn September 5

The 2nd annual High Country Beer Festival will take place on Saturday, September 5, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Broyhill Inn and Conference Center on the campus of ASU.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door, and designated drivers receive free admission. To purchase tickets in advance, click to www.hcbeerfest.com.

In recent years, North Carolina has become known for its craft wines, but is also the home for handcrafted beers and visionary breweries. To serve this burgeoning phenomenon, the High Country Beer Fest annually celebrates the great craft beer tradition from around the region and the world.

This year’s event will feature sample beers from numerous North Carolina breweries, in addition to regional and international beer makers. Homebrewers will also be well represented by the High Country Homebrewers’ Association and the Winston Salem “Worthogs” Brewing Club, among others, proudly sharing the fruits of their labors.

The festival will focus on education as much as it will on introducing people to the great beers around them. Educational seminars will cover all aspects of beer, brewing and pairing of food with beer. Edibles to accompany your samples will be provided by the Broyhill Inn. Music celebrating regional heritage and diverse local influences will also be an essential piece of the experience. This year’s musical lineup will include Dave & Lisa Haney, The Henhouse Thieves, BDL and River Street.

All proceeds from the festival benefit the Hospitality House in Boone and the first nonprofit, educational brewpub in the country, The Ivory Tower Brewery. This on-campus brewery will be run and managed by ASU faculty and students.
