Beech Mountain Hosts Bike and Mountain Board Competition September 5 and 6
Beech Mountain Ski Resort will host the final series of the Triple Crown Downhill Bike Competition and the Higher Ground Mountain Board Competition on Saturday and Sunday, September 5 and 6.
Beech Mountain Ski Resort will host the final series of the Triple Crown Downhill Bike Competition and the Higher Ground Mountain Board Competition on Saturday and Sunday, September 5 and 6. In addition to watching competitions, onlookers are invited to enjoy scenic lift rides, food, craft vendors and live music.
For the Triple Crown series, Beech Mountain Resort has teamed up with local mountain bike aficionado and professional downhill racer Ryan Taylor to organize the event. Together, the team will reintroduce downhill mountain biking on Beech Mountain to attract professional and amateur riders across the Southeast. Amateur and professional categories will be offered at the event. All racers will compete on a single course descending the full elevation of Beech Mountain. Race entry fees will be $55 for all classes. Helmets are mandatory for all competitors.
Recommended safety equipment for competitors includes, gloves, long pants, long sleeve shirt, leg armour, arm armour and solid running or bike specific shoes.
Ground Industries of Greenville, S.C., have also teamed up with Beech Mountain Ski Resort to build a brand new, all wood board park. In addition to the downhill bike competition on September 5 and 6, Ski Beech will host a mountain board competition. Ground Industries is offering $1,000 in cash prizes, one of the largest cash prizes of any mountain board competition in the Country. Saturday will consist of a skills competition and Sunday a downhill competition. Each competition will have an entry fee of $55. In addition, Ground Industries will be hosting mountain board clinics and demos throughout the day.
