The Whip Daddys will close out the Banner Elk Chamber of Commerce’s Summer Concerts in the Park series this Thursday, August 27, at 6:30 p.m. at Tate-Evans Park. Admission is free.
The Whip Daddys have been performing in the Banner Elk area for more than 13 years, featuring Hope Harvey on vocals, Dennis Murphy on vocals and sax, Ed Main on keyboards, guitar and vocals and Dave Calvert on vocals and multiple instruments.
The band still actively plays at Esseola Lodge and The Apple Barn primarily on a word-of-mouth basis, as they have not advertised collectively as a group in years. The band often performs at weddings and features a song selection that caters to 20- to 60-year-olds with the best of beach, Motown and dance music.
