Ashe Farmers’ Market To Select Craft Vendors Through 2011
Jury Process Takes Place September 15

If you are a furniture maker, quilter, carver, jeweler, photographer, potter, musician, writer, crafter or other type of artisan interested in selling your work at the Ashe County Farmers’ Market, you must participate in a juried process for potential craft and artisan vendors on Tuesday, September 15.
All items sold at the Ashe County Farmers’ Market must adhere to strict guidelines to preserve the highest integrity of the market. Anyone wishing to sell items at the market on Wednesdays, Saturdays, Gallery Crawl Fridays, Christmas in July or during the Winter Holiday Market must be approved ahead of time.
All guidelines and policies are listed specific to each craft on the market website at www.ashefarmersmarket.com, but following are the basic rules. Each item must be handmade by Ashe County residents. Items are judged on the basis of craftsmanship, artistic merit, aesthetic value and market appeal. Commercial kit assemblies are not acceptable, and manufactured component parts are allowed only to the extent necessary for structural integrity.
Anyone wishing to sell at the Ashe County Farmers’ Market the remainder of this season and through 2011 must bring a sample of their work to the Cooperative Extension office, located behind Bojangles and Pizza Hut in Jefferson, on Tuesday, September 15, between 7:00 and 9:00 a.m. Items are to be dropped off, along with a completed certification form, which can be printed from the Ashe Farmers’ Market website or obtained at the Extension office. You can pick up your merchandise between 11:30 a.m. and noon.
Questions about the jurying process or how to become a market vendor should be addressed to Market Manager John Smyre at 910-309-1932 or 336-877-4141.
The Ashe County Farmers Market, located on the Backstreet in downtown West Jefferson, is open every Wednesday and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and on the second Friday evening of each month during the Gallery Crawls.
