Visitors to area farmers’ markets are finding plenty of harvest fresh produce. Last Saturday, Amy Johnston of Springhouse Farms in Vilas was selling her pesticide-free vegetables at the Watauga County market. Regular market goers will tell you to get there early for best selection, especically the farm fresh corn that is selling out fast. The Watauga market will be open through the last Saturday in October, with holiday markets operating the Saturday before and after Thanksgiving. Photo by Ken Ketchie
