United Way Invites Public to Campaign Kickoff September 10
The High Country United Way kicks off its annual campaign on Thursday, September 10, at the Agricultural Conference Center in Boone, and the public is invited to join the organization at 9:00 a.m. for coffee and donuts.
“We will announce our fundraising goal for the season and unveil our new campaign video,” said Linda Slade, executive director of the High Country United Way.
“We will be talking about Live United and what that means,” she said.
Live United is a strategy for a way of living that is comprised of three components— giving, advocating and volunteering, she said.
“It’s not just about United Way, it’s about everything we do in our lives,” Slade said.
The organization’s campaign video discusses each of the three components in turn, and people in each of the categories share what that particular aspect of Live United means to them, she added.
The public will benefit from the kickoff by learning about the local impact of the High Country United Way.
The organization holds an annual fundraising campaign to financially benefit its 25 partner agencies, which are nonprofits in Avery and Watauga counties.
Slade said she expects a total of 50 to 75 people at the campaign kickoff, including members of the partner agencies, companies and community leaders.
To RSVP, email hcuw@boone.net by Tuesday, September 8.
