The September 11 show begins at 5:00 p.m., and admission is free.
Performing in the Boone area for seven years now, the Lost Ridge Band began with a traditional bluegrass sound but evolved into a hard-driving, eclectic, progressive bluegrass style with a beat. The band features Pete Washburn on banjo and vocals, Phil Washburn on guitar and vocals, Kim France on upright bass and vocals, Shane Crawford on mandolin and vocals, Lucas Moomaw on drums and Stewart Owens on fiddle.
“Lost Ridge Band includes a group of local boys that have been picking traditional, contemporary and original bluegrass together for nearly a decade,” said Mark Freed, folklorist at the Watauga Arts Council, which presents Concerts on the Lawn. “They have been regular performers in the summer Concerts series but haven’t performed for a couple years. We’re excited to have them back this summer.”
Well known for their high energy on stage, the Whitetop Mountain Band is a family-based band out of the Virginia mountains, performing old-time, country, bluegrass, ballads and gospel. The band recently performed at MerleFest.
Local favorites The Lost Ridge Band return to the Concerts on the Lawn series at the Jones House this Friday, September 11.
