Leigh Lyall Named WHS Counselor of the Year

Watauga High School Counselor Leigh Lyall was chosen as the Watauga County Schools Counselor of the Year for the 2009-2010 school year. She will now be considered for North Carolina School Counselor of the Year, an award that will be announced at the North Carolina School Counselors Association meeting in Greensboro on October 15.
“Words cannot express how honored and humbled I am to have been chosen as Watauga County Schools Counselor of the Year,” said Lyall. “I am so appreciative of the tremendous support of my family, my peers in the Watauga High School Student Services Department, the leaders in the school system and the other colleagues and professionals who have helped me in my 18 years as a counselor. I will do my best to always represent the school counseling profession and Watauga County Schools with the highest of standards.”
Lyall is in her ninth year as a school counselor at Watauga High School and worked for nine years at Mabel Elementary before coming to the high school.
