Children’s Playhouse Consignment Sale at Boone Mall October 23 to 25
Consignments Now Being Accepted
With the current economic climate, many parents may be looking at their rapidly growing children, fingering their wallets and thinking, “We just bought those clothes!” and “How are we going to afford new ones?”
The Children’s Playhouse, the High Country’s only nonprofit children’s museum, offers a great way for parents to both save money and make money from their kids’ cast-offs.
The Playhouse Consignment and Rummage Sale has been a twice yearly event for some time now, but will be held at a new location this year, the Boone Mall. Playhouse Executive Director Kathy Parham explained, “Thanks to a generous donation of space from the H.L. Libby Corporation, the fall Playhouse Sale will take place October 23 to 25 in the Boone Mall, a great location for shoppers and consigners.”
“Consigners get 60 percent at the sale,” organizer Jennefer Spell explained, “and the other 40 percent is a tax-deductible donation to The Children’s Playhouse.” Consigners tag their items, drop them off and then the items are sold at the sale.
The Playhouse is already registering consigners, Parham said, but folks can still sign up to sell their stuff if they act soon. Consigners can click to www.goplayhouse.org for tagging guidelines and to download a registration form, request one by emailing kathy@goplayhouse.org or pick up a packet in person at The Children’s Playhouse, located at 400 Tracy Circle in Boone.
“We also know that some people would rather not bother tagging their items; they just want to de-clutter and help The Playhouse,” said Parham, “So they can drop off their donations now at The Playhouse and volunteers will sort and price and the Playhouse will get the proceeds.” For more information, call 828-263-0011.
The sale offers parents and community members a great chance to make money from their stuff and to pick up “new to you” clothes, household items, toys, books and furniture at bargain prices. “We will take advantage of the Boone Mall location to offer expanded hours for our sale, including Friday evening and a Sunday afternoon half-price sale,” said Parham, “We’ll even have a big item tent sale on the parking lot on Saturday.”
As a special treat to consigners and volunteers, The Children’s Playhouse is providing a special Parents’ Night Out at the museum during the pre-sale on Thursday, October 22, so hard-working parents can shop in peace. A regular Parents’ Night Out for the general public will be offered on Friday, October 23. For more information about Parents’ Night Out, click to www.goplayhouse.org.
