Hayes School of Music This Week

The second installment of the popular Faculty Recital Series will benefit the Hospitality House, with donations taken at the door of the October 6 concert.

John McGuire Horn Recital Sunday
John McGuire, a faculty member in the Hayes School of Music, will present a horn recital this Sunday, October 4, at 2:00 p.m. in Rosen Concert Hall. Admission is free.
Faculty Recital Series October 6
The Faculty Recital Series presents “An Evening of Music” with violinist Nancy Bargerstock and pianist Rodney Reynerson on Tuesday, October 6.
The performance begins at 8:00 p.m. in Rosen Concert Hall. Admission is free, but donations will be taken at the door to benefit the Hospitality House of Boone. The nonprofit agency plans to construct a new 18,500-square-foot facility off Bamboo Road for the homeless.
The recital begins with Johannes Brahms’s “Sonata No. 2 in A major, op. 100.” Also on the program is Fritz Kreisler’s “Recitativo and Scherzo-Caprice” for solo violin, Leoš Janá?ek’s “Sonata” and “Etude Chromatique” by Dimitri Terzakis.
The Faculty Recital Series showcases the exceptional talents of the music faculty and provides audiences an opportunity to enjoy a variety of musical performances from vocal recitals to small ensemble performances.
Bargerstock has been a member of the music faculty at ASU since August 1999. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from The Julliard School of Music in New York City and a soloist diploma in viola from the Orfeo Conservatory of Music in Athens, Greece. She has performed throughout the United States and Europe and in Japan, Greece and Cyprus.
Reynerson joined the ASU faculty in 1980. Reynerson has performed solo literature, chamber music and piano concerti throughout the eastern United States. He is a graduate of Murray State University and Indiana University.
