Sunset Stroll in Blowing Rock Friday

Enjoy outdoor dining and relaxing as part of the final Sunset Stroll of the season this Friday, October 2, on Sunset Drive in Blowing Rock.

This Friday night, October 2, wraps up this year’s Sunset Strolls on Sunset Drive, so head over to Blowing Rock—where open house meets block party.

The Sunset Stroll takes place from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m., and you are invited to participate in lawn games, enjoy outdoor bars and restaurants and meet the artists, gallery owners and business people who will be open late that night.

Dean and Shanaaz Eisenberg of Trillium Exquisite Baubles will host silversmith Barbara E. Cook for a trunk show of her newest sterling silver designs. Share some wine and food and consider the artistic offerings.

Next door at Mellow Mushroom Pizza, you can drop in for a sample of draft beer before you visit Art and Artifacts, where silk painter Roberta Nosti, jeweler Suzi Cook and sculptor Alex Hallmark will participate in Art on the Patio. The gallery will feature wine and food and works by notable area artists. Stop by on Saturday, too, to see local artists Jose Fumero and Herb Cohen.

Morning Star Gallery, next door to Crippen’s Country Inn and Restaurant, hosts a sneak preview of trompe l’oeil paintings by Brad Stroman and portraits and landscapes by Cher Cosper; both artists will be in the gallery Friday night. Join these accomplished artists who are new to the area with celebratory drinks, food and warm hospitality. Also enjoy art by Wes Waugh and Jonas Gerard in the gallery’s setting of hand-blown glass and terracotta sculpture.

Throughout Sunset Drive you’ll find open doors and hospitality at DeWoolfson Down, Blowing Rock Estate Jewelry and Antiques, Gregory Alan’s and Jake’s on the Rock.

Christopher’s Wine & Cheese will feature Gemtree Vineyards of Australia that night.  Guests will also see art from local painter Gisele Wiseman.

You must make time for drinks at the outdoor bar at The Best Cellar at the Inn at Ragged Gardens. There you can play a couple of rounds of corn hole on the lawn before your aim gets too wobbly. And it’s a great time of year to enjoy dinner on the covered porch.

Look for the balloons on Sunset Drive. For more information, call 828-295-6991.
