Armen Boyajian and Air Apparent in Blowing Rock Sunday

The Blowing Rock Jazz Society’s monthly concert at the Meadowbrook Inn will feature jazz pianist and violinist Armen Boyajian and his band Air Apparent this Sunday, October 11, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Boyajian was born in Chicago and at the age of 16 attended a Miles Davis concert, which led him to learn the art of jazz. He studied at the University of Rochester and Eastman School of Music. He has performed with Branford Marsalis, Gary Thomas, Dennis Chambers and Wycliffe Gordon.
Boyajian moved to Washington, D.C. in 1978 and began his first version of Air Apparent in 1980, performing on electric violin. Now based in the Augusta, Ga., area, Air Apparent was named the Best Jazz Band in Augusta Magazine in 2002. The band performs modern jazz standards and original compositions.
Call the Meadowbrook Inn at 828-295-4300 for seating reservations. Reservations will be held until 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for the general public, $5 for students and free for Jazz Society members.
