Possum Jenkins and The Corduroy Road Play Murphy’s Friday

The Corduroy Road and Possum Jenkins
Local Americana group Possum Jenkins and Athens, Ga.-based group The Corduroy Road will play at Murphy’s Restaurant & Pub in downtown Boone this Friday, October 16, at 10:00 p.m.
The rocking performance will be sure to get your toes tapping, if not your whole body moving. Possum Jenkins draws from Americana, country, old-time, soul and rock influences, and The Corduroy Road plays a blend of bluegrass, Americana, folk rock and old-time country.
The Corduroy Road features “lots of great harmonies, folkey songwriting and lots of energy,” said David Brewer of Possum Jenkins.
The bands will play four 45-minute alternating sets, with The Corduroy Road slated for the first and third sets and Possum Jenkins scheduled to play second and fourth. The show costs $5.
“People that come late will be able to see both bands,” Brewer said, adding that both bands have been getting airplay on WNCW lately.
In addition to The Corduroy Road, Possum Jenkins has teamed up for shows with Southern Culture on the Skids, Shooter Jennings, Reagan Boggs, Naked Gods, Lost Ridge Band, Andy Friedman & The Other Failures, Joe Blevins and Holy Ghost Tent Revival.
The Corduroy Road has shared stages with The Avett Brothers, Paleface, The Packway Handle Band, Ian Thomas, Langhorne Slim, Trampled by Turtles and more.
