Early Voting Underway in Watauga and Avery Counties

Early voting in both Watauga and Avery counties began on October 15 and ends on Saturday, October 31. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3. If you haven’t already registered to vote in your county, you can do so during the early voting period but NOT on Election Day.
Avery County Early Voting Location
Early voting in Avery County for elections in Banner Elk, Grandfather Village, Sugar Mountain, Elk Park, Newland and Crossnore takes place at the office of the Avery County Board of Elections, located in the Avery County Courthouse Annex at 200 Montezuma Street in Newland. During the early voting period, the office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on October 31. For more info, call 828-733-8282.
Watauga County Early Voting Locations
Early voting in Watauga County for citizens living in Boone, Blowing Rock, Beech Mountain and Seven Devils takes place at the office of the Watauga County Board of Elections, located at 842 West King Street, Suite 6 in Boone, and at the Agricultural Conference Center, located at 252 Poplar Grove Road in Boone, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on October 31. A third early voting site will be open at the ASU Plemmons Student Union Multicultural Room Monday through Friday, October 26 to 30, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For more info, call 828-265-8061.

According to Jane Hodges, director of the Watauga County Board of Elections, the majority of the 172 votes have come from Boone residents, while roughly 20 Blowing Rock residents, roughly six Beech Mountain residents and four Seven Devils residents have also thrown in their election choices.
