Feature Photo: Old Man Winter Arrives Early
Old Man Winter teased snow lovers last Saturday with intermittent spurts of snow. Overnight, though, the Old Man proved that he came to play, coating trees with glistening rime ice and dumping more than one inch of the white stuff on parts of the High Country, including Beech Mountain. The early winter snowfall was well received at the Beech Mountain Sledding Hill on Sunday, while down in Banner Elk, Woolly Worm Festival attendees found themselves racing worms amid falling snowflakes and colder-than-normal temperatures.
