Feature Photo: Performance Enhancing Heat

In a chilly championship race last Saturday at the 32nd annual Woolly Worm Festival in Banner Elk, racers used straws to blow warm air at the woolly worms in hopes the heat would make them move faster. In the end, a woolly worm named Wilbur trained by Chapel Hill-native Noah Jens won the 32nd Running of the Worms, granting the worm the privilege of predicting the upcoming winter's weather.
