Boone Participates in Inaugural International Day of Climate Action

Last Saturday, October 24, more than 70 residents gathered for a group picture at the Watauga County Farmers’ Market in honor of the inaugural International Day of Climate Action. The photo shoot served as a visual petition to initiate change on the International Day of Climate Action, and was delivered to the United Nations that will in turn deliver the photo—along with photos taken in 170 countries at more than 4,000 locations worldwide—to the world leaders at the Copenhagen Conference this December. Each photo taken around the world included the number 350 to bring attention to the fact that scientists agree that 350 parts per million of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is the safe limit for the planet and for humanity. Currently, the climate supports a carbon dioxide level hovering at 387 ppm. For more info, click to www.350.org. Photo by Ty Brown
