Municipal Elections 2009: Early Voting Totals

Avery County
According to Sheila Ollis, director of the Avery County Board of Elections, 138 votes have been cast for municipal elections in Avery County as of press time. Of the 138 votes cast, 65 have been cast for the Newland election, 46 have been cast for Sugar Mountain Village, 20 have been cast for Banner Elk, seven have been cast for Elk Park and no votes have been cast for Crossnore or Grandfather Village.
Watauga County
According to Jane Hodges, director of the Watauga County Board of Elections, the majority of the votes this week have come from the new ASU one-stop voting location in Plemmons Student Union—in just two days, 144 votes were cast at that location. Of the 538 votes that have been cast in Watauga County as of press time, 461 have been cast for the Boone municipal election, 57 have been cast for Blowing Rock, eight have been cast for Beech Mountain, seven have been cast for Seven Devils and five have been cast from absentee voters.
