Appalachian Regional Healthcare Foundation Receives Donation from Hound Ears Community

Appalachian Regional Healthcare Foundation (ARHF) received $136,820 from the 8th annual Hound Ears Charity Event. The proceeds from the event, sponsored by the Hound Ears community, will be used to replace many older pieces of exercise equipment at the Paul Broyhill Wellness Center.
This year’s event was dedicated to the late Bob Harrell, who served on the ARHF Board and was a beloved member of the Hound Ears community. Bob’s widow, Beachy Harrell (pictured in middle), and Roger Michelson (pictured on right), committee chairman, presented the check to Richard Sparks (pictured on left), president and CEO of Appalachian Regional Healthcare System (ARHS).
“We appreciate the unique relationship that Hound Ears has developed with our healthcare system,” Sparks said. “Their generosity and commitment to our mission enables us to make life better for residents and visitors of the High Country.”
An area on the second floor of the Wellness Center will be dedicated to the Hound Ears community in the coming weeks to recognize their contribution and support of wellness in the region.
