Location: Valborg Theatre, ASU Campus

For the Appalachian Dance Ensemble, dance faculty Emily Daughtridge has choreographed “Once Was Now,” a dance inspired by the visceral power of memory. Five female dancers flow through brief interactions, pause in reflection and retrograde their paths to a waltzing score. “Out of the fire, a still sound voice,” choreographed by student Jessie Maynard, is a piece that asks the performers to risk vulnerability in an effort to speak truth to the audience. “Whist,” choreographed by student Carrie Harding, is about the nature of secrets and why we keep them. “A-Sheyr,” choreographed by student Jessica O'Keefe, is a whimsical piece regarding the experiences of searching and discovering contentment.

The ASU Department of Theatre and Dance sends loud applause to this season’s 2009-10 sponsors, Boone Bagelry and Joe’s Italian Kitchen, and warmly thanks Stick Boy Bread Company and Tupelo’s World Café for their generous support.

The Valborg Theatre is located at 480 Howard Street, behind the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts. Parking is available after 5:00 p.m. on campus in faculty lots, the College Street parking deck near the Belk Library and Information Commons and behind the Turchin Center.
