Blowing Rock Christmas Ornament Features Green Park Inn

The 2009 Christmas ornament produced by the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce features the historic Green Park Inn.
The Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce recently unveiled its 15th Christmas ornament in its ongoing series. The Chamber ornament salutes important Blowing Rock institutions and landmarks.
This year’s ornament honors Blowing Rock’s beloved Green Park Inn, one of the village’s iconic buildings.
“We felt that this was the correct year to honor the Historic Green Park Inn,” said Chamber Executive Director Charles Hardin. “The Green Park is in a period of transition, and we are thrilled to honor its historic look and importance to our community.”
Local artist Victoria Appell designed the 2009 ornament. Appell’s work of the Green Park has also graced the pages of the Blowing Rock Historical Society’s The Green Park Historic District.
Appell will be available to sign the ornaments at the Blowing Rock Visitor Center on Wednesday, December 2, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Enjoy some hot cider while you’re there.
Past ornaments have included 2008’s Charity Horse Show, 2007’s Mitford ornament, Tweetsie Railroad, Mt. Bethel Church, Mayview Lake, Sonny’s Grill, First Baptist Church, Church of the Epiphany and others. The ornaments have become quite the Blowing Rock collectable over the years and have even been known to pop up for sale on eBay.
This year’s ornaments are available at the Visitor’s Center on Valley Boulevard for $10 and are extremely limited in quantity. Some of the past ornaments are also available at a discount: the Charity Horse Show ($9); Mitford Days ($8); Church of the Epiphany ($5); Tweetsie Railroad ($8); and Mt. Bethel Church ($2).
