International Education Week at ASU: ‘Sowing Seeds of Prosperity and Peace’
International Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. According to www.iew.state.gov, the week is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education and is part of its efforts to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences in the United States.
International Education Week Events
ASU will observe the nationally recognized week with a series of events that stem from the international interest of many departments and students on campus, said Sarah Bergstedt, director of international outreach at ASU.
“We’ve gotten a great response from different departments,” Bergstedt said. “It’s a very exciting world out there beyond the borders of our country. There’s so much to do and so much to learn.”
Studying, living or working in other countries provides unique learning opportunities, she added.
“Even if you don’t get the chance to study, live or work in other cultures, there are plenty of opportunities to experience other cultures right here on campus and in the community,” she said, adding that she hopes everyone will take advantage of the events offered from Monday to Friday, November 16 to 20.
The following events will be held on the ASU campus as part of International Education Week and are free and open to the public.
