Playcrafters New Play Festival at ASU December 2 to 5

The annual Playcrafters New Play Festival will take at ASU’s I.G. Greer Studio Theatre Wednesday through Saturday, December 2 to 5, at 7:00 p.m. each night. Tickets are $8 for the general public and $5 for students.
The New Play Festival presents new, original plays written, directed and performed by students. The ASU Department of Theatre and Dance’s Playcrafters club sponsors the festival.
Four student-authored plays are featured this year: Well Made, The Wake, I Love You Mr. Laurent and Three Little Words.
Jarrod Sacco, chair of the New Play Festival, said the Department of Theatre reached out to the English Department this year to increase campus interest in new plays. Two of the plays are written by theatre majors, and the other two are penned by English majors.
“We chose them because all of the writers were diverse,” said Sacco. “Some [of the plays are] dealing with social issues, and others are just being comedic; they’re really funny and well written.”
