Reuse Those Bags!
Marsha Story, left, the Town of Boone’s recycling coordinator, gives reusable shopping bags to three shoppers at the Harris Teeter in Boone last Friday, November 13, in celebration of America Recycles Day, observed November 15.
Story also handed out the bags at Ingles, Food Lion, Lowes Foods and Earth Fare. Along with the bags came information about the benefits of using reusable shopping bags instead of plastic bags and about the town’s recycling program and container sites.
Acquiring reusable bags is only half the battle—you also have to remember to use them when you go shopping. The best way to do this is to store the bags in your vehicle’s front seat, Story said.
