Beech Mountain’s Parks & Recreation Department will host a series of guided hikes this winter.
The hikes range in length from 1.6 to 2 miles and take place on the mountain’s designated trails. Each session is led by a guide who is familiar with the trail, as well as the foliage and fauna unique to Beech Mountain.
The next hike is set for Friday, November 27, on the Wild Iris Trail. After that, the remaining hikes take place on Tuesdays, including: December 1 (Grass Gap Creek Trail); December 29 (Shawneehaw Overlook Trail); January 5 (Red Fox/Arrowhead Loop Trail); February 2 (Sassafras Trail); and March 2 (Smoketree Trail).
Each hike begins promptly at 9:00 a.m. and there is no cost to participate. Hikers are required to wear appropriate clothing and footwear, and dogs are not allowed.
