Hayes School of Music This Week

The Hayes School of Music concert calendar breaks for Thanksgiving but resumes a rigorous schedule on Monday, November 30, with a concert by ASU brass ensembles.
Unless otherwise indicated, concerts take place in the Broyhill Music Center on the ASU campus. For more information about any of these performances, call 828-262-3020.
Appalachian Brass Ensembles November 30
Brass ensembles from ASU’s Hayes School of Music will perform Monday, November 30, in a free performance beginning at 8:00 p.m. in Rosen Concert Hall.
The Appalachian Tuba/Euphonium Collective will perform Tylman Susato’s “Renaissance Dances,” John Cheetham’s “Consortium” and the traditional “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day.”
The Horn Choir will perform the first movement from Paul Hindemith’s “Sonata II for Organ.” The Trumpet Choir will perform Ronald Lo Presti’s “Suite for Five Trumpets,” Samuel Scheidt’s “Canzon” and James Sclater’s “Soundings for Eight Trumpets in B flat.”
The Trombone Choir will perform Biagio Marini’s “Canzona,” Camille Saint-Saëns’s “Adagio” and Jean Sibelius’s “Finlandia.”
Student Trombone Recital December 1
Senior music education major Drew O’Keefe will perform a trombone recital on Tuesday, December 1, at 6:00 p.m. in the Recital Hall. Admission is free.
Jazz Vocal Ensemble December 1
The Jazz Vocal Ensemble will perform Tuesday, December 1, at 8:00 p.m. in Rosen Concert Hall. Admission is free. Jason Thompson conducts the ensemble.
Pianist Matthew Power, bass player Zachary Sprau and percussionist Heath Towson will accompany the vocalists. The program includes “Here’s That Rainy Day,” “All of Me,” “Embraceable You” and “Lover Come Back to Me.”
Treble Choir December 2
A concert by the Treble Choir takes place Wednesday, December 2, at 8:00 p.m. in Rosen Concert Hall. Admission is free. Dr. Priscilla Porterfield is the conductor.
