Mixed Media Exhibition at ASU Until December 7
A mixed media exhibition by ASU student Rebecca B. Farris is on display at the Looking Glass Gallery in the Plemmons Student Union on campus.
ASU presents Twenty-Five: A Mixed Media Series by Rebecca B. Farris now through Monday, December 7, in the Plemmon’s Student Union Looking Glass Gallery.
A reception will take place Monday, December 7, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the gallery, and refreshments will be provided. The Twenty-Five series integrates found paper objects with numbers, which are universally recognizable symbols, as a way to create balanced compositions and engage the viewer with a universal language composed of ordinary characters. The resulting images are a fresh, unconventional way to use the experimental media she has chosen.
Farris is completing her last term at ASU, majoring in studio art with a primary concentration in painting and a secondary concentration in photography. She has recently completed an internship in the Photo Archives Department of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C.
Farris was the recipient of the Plemmons Student Union Purchase Award in 2008 for her Downtown Boone piece, as well as in 2009 for her 4 and 9 Series. Farris also recently had a show at the local art studio The Collective on Depot, where she created the Twenty-Five series as a result of the studio’s Artist in Residence award she received at the end of last semester.
The exhibition is made possible by Tabitha Perryman, curator of the Looking Glass Gallery; Dianna Loughlin, future curator of the Looking Glass Gallery; and Jenny Koehn of ASU Student Programs.
