Watauga Parks & Recreation Hosts Master Planning Community Meetings
Second Meeting at Parkway Elementary December 14
Watauga County Parks and Recreation will host two more community meetings to discuss residents’ needs and desires for future improvements and additions to the community recreation provisions in Watauga County. The first meeting took place on December 2, and the next two meetings will take place on the following dates:
Monday, December 14—Parkway Elementary School Gym, 7:00 p.m.
Thursday, December 17—Hardin Park Elementary School Gym, 7:00 p.m.
These community meetings are an opportunity for all residents to provide public input. The information gathered from these meetings will be used to supplement that obtained from a recently mailed needs assessment conducted by ASU. This public input will help guide the recommendations that will be included in the 2020 Watauga County Parks and Recreation Master Plan. The High Country Council of Governments is currently in the process of developing this 10-year master plan on behalf of the Watauga County Parks and Recreation Department. The plan is comprehensive and will address most aspects of the county's program and facilities. In addition, the master plan will make recommendations regarding new recreation facilities, upgrades needed on existing facilities and other recreation-related issues.
