Looking for a unique family experience this holiday season? Why not take your loved ones to the 12th annual Speedway in Lights at the Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee?
More than 1.5 million lights and more than 200 displays decorate the four-mile drive-through route, which includes a stretch on “The World’s Fastest Half-Mile.”
The Autotrader.com Speedway in Lights, powered by TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority) takes place from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. every day through Sunday, January 3. The cost is $10 per car Sundays to Thursdays and $12 per car on Fridays and Saturdays. The price for an activity van is $15 and the cost for a bus is $65.
Displays include several with motorsports themes, an animated snowman, Santa’s Toy Machine, Dinosaur Village—complete with an erupting volcano—the cannon shot, the poinsettia wreath and the new, 180-foot-long attraction The Twelve Days of Christmas.
The route’s largest spectacle features animated figures from Gatlinburg leading up to the Sea of Illumination, presented by Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies exhibit.
Subway Christmas Village, located in the Bristol Motor Speedway infield, is a popular destination along the route and features a variety of rides for children, who can also visit with Santa, enjoy hot chocolate and roast marshmallows. Several craft vendors will also be set up in the Village.
