Judges Announced for 7th Annual Appalachian Mountain Photography Competition
Registration Closes at 5:00 p.m. this Friday

Organizers of the 7th annual Appalachian Mountain Photography Competition (AMPC) recently announced the selection of this year’s competition judges. Photographers interested in submitting their work for consideration should click to www.appmtnphotocomp.org for competition rules and to register. Registration closes at 5:00 p.m. this Friday, January 29.
The jurors selected for the 7th annual AMPC are Jamie Goodman, Troy Tuttle and Katie Langley.
Goodman has 13 years’ experience as a journalistic photographer for community newspapers and magazines and currently serves as communications coordinator for the nonprofit environmental organization Appalachian Voices. She is a senior studio member of The Nth? Gallery, an independent art venue in Boone, and has helped orchestrate more than 90 individual, group and juried exhibitions.
Troy Tuttle is the senior photographer for ASU, a position he has held for the past 10 years. He has won numerous awards for his portrait and commercial work, and his images have been accepted into the photographic collection of the Smithsonian Museum of American History.
Katie Langley has returned to the world of photography from a near-decade-long stint in banking. She brings a journalistic, candid and artistic approach to her work and has found success in the highly competitive world of portraiture photography.
All images submitted in accordance with competition guidelines will be eligible for preliminary judging. This first round of review will result in the selection of approximately 46 images that will be exhibited at the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts on the ASU campus from March 5 to June 5. Once the exhibition is installed, the panel of judges will return to name one image as Best in Show and to select a winning image from each of the seven competition categories. Judges may also choose to acknowledge strong works in each of the categories by recognizing them with a Special Mention. Winning and Special Mention images will be announced the week of March 29.
