Shout! About Town Returns
A long, long time ago—well, 2005 and 2006—High Country Press produced a sister publication called Shout!, which was a nightlife magazine and social handbook for the High Country created by Jamie Goodman, Dan Kaple, Sam Calhoun, David Brewer and a host of other townies. As time turns elastic and the days of Shout! creep further into the past, the presence of the magazine has gained a sort of cult status in the history of Boone, even though it was laid to rest after two years and 20 issues.
Without a doubt, the magazine’s most popular feature was a photo spread dubbed “Shout! About Town.” In each Shout!, the middle two pages of the magazine contained a dozen or more pictures of locals and visitors enjoying nightlife around the High Country. Each time an issue hit the streets, readers reveled in looking at that section of the magazine—some looked for friends, some found pictures of people they thought had moved, some commented on how people dressed, some searched for themselves, some just loved seeing what others were up to. In short, the idea worked, and we think it will again.
From black tie affairs to last calls at local bars, the second coming of Shout! About Town will hopefully show off the fun times and fun people for which the High Country has a surplus. Look for High Country Press staff at various High Country events—we’ll be armed with cameras and a smile and we’d love to snap a photo of you and your friends enjoying this amazing place to live, work and play. Select pictures will end up in The View section of High Country Press on a regular basis, but all of the photos will be posted on our website by clicking to www.highcountrypress.com and on our Facebook page, which can be accessed by clicking to www.facebook.com/highcountrypress.
We’ll see you out there! Smile—you’re going in Shout! About Town!
