Lily Tomlin, one of America's most popular comediennes, continues to venture across an ever-widening range of media, starring in television, theater, motion pictures, animation and video. Throughout her extraordinary career, she has received numerous awards, including six Emmy Awards, Tony Awards, a Grammy and has been nominated for an Academy Award.
Mary Jean "Lily" Tomlin was born September 1, 1939, in Detroit, Mich. and is an American actress, comedienne, writer and producer. She attended Wayne State University, where her love of theater and performing arts began. Once she graduated from college, Tomlin began doing stand-up comedy in nightclubs in Detroit and later in New York City.
Tomlin has been a part of many popular productions, such as Saturday Night Live, The Incredible Shrinking Woman, Murphy Brown, Will and Grace, Desperate Housewives, and even voiced Ms. Frizzle on the animated television series, The Magic School Bus.
“Based on the demographics here in the High Country, most people know who Lily Tomlin is, and so we usually get a big crowd when she comes to ASU for a performance. We hope to see everyone at her show this year,” said Dedaj.
