The symposium’s keynote speakers are Jon West and Chad Ledford, founders of the online retail company 3tailer LLC. The idea for 3tailer was born while West and Ledford were students at ASU. They took a $1,000 investment and created a multi-million dollar company (www.3tailer.com) that now owns and operates more than 30 e-commerce websites. Their talk begins at 5:00 p.m.
Members of the band “Do it to Julia” will perform during registration, which begins at 3:00 p.m. as part of the event.
The band members will join Jimmy Hunt, Daijua (DAY-jah) Corin, Chris Cornwell and Sarah Pinnix for a panel discussion beginning at 3:50 p.m.
“Do it to Julia” is a band formed under the Hayes School of Music’s record label, Split Rail Records. Hunt is a 2008 Appalachian graduate who established Yellow Dog Entertainment LLC, which runs the annual Music on the Mountaintop festival in Boone.
Corin is the 13-year-old owner and president of Vela Delight in Charlotte, an online sweet shop she began at age 11. Cornwell is a student at ASU majoring in management with a concentration in entrepreneurship. He was the 2009 Student Entrepreneur of the Year.
Pinnix is founder and editor of The High Country Mom Squad, a website/online magazine dedicated to women and families in the High Country. She also teaches businesses how to use social media for marketing with her “Talk of the Town” Workshops.
A networking reception from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m. will also feature a performance by “Do it to Julia.”
