MEISA Unplugged Showcases Singer-Songwriters February 27
The Music & Entertainment Industry Student Association, better known as MEISA, will host MEISA Unplugged, a showcase of singer-songwriters, on Saturday, February 27, at the Broyhill Music Center Recital Hall on the ASU campus at 7:00 p.m.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and admission is $3.
Celebrating its third anniversary, MEISA Unplugged will showcase eight talented singer-songwriters that auditioned in November 2009 for a chance to be on stage. The auditions were open to any talented individual on campus who has the ability to perform original acoustic music live.
This year’s finalists include Ashley Heath, Nathan Brown, Tyler Brown, Stephanie Nash, Tyron Young, Nick Davison, Jenna Smith and Shay Lovette. These finalists will have the opportunity to showcase their original music and stage presence and expose their faces to members of the student body.
MEISA is a national student organization in the Hayes School of Music that focuses on the music industry. MEISA Unplugged allows students in MEISA, Split Rail Records, ASU’s student-run record label, and other music industry studies majors to apply their skills and knowledge of the music industry within a professional setting.
In addition to exposing and promoting talented local musicians, this year’s Unplugged will also assist in funding the local MEISA chapter’s journey to Miami, Fla., for the national MEISA conference.
