POP After Hours at Galileo’s Cafe February 23
Event Will Showcase Work of High Country Women’s Fund

The High Country Women’s Fund will host POP After Hours at Galileo’s Café in Boone on Tuesday, February 23, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. to celebrate and educate the public about the work of the Women’s Fund. POP stands for “Power of the Purse,” the name for the organization’s fundraising programs.
Donate a woman’s professional clothing item for the spring “Dress for Success” project or a paper product for OASIS to receive a free glass of wine, beer or soft drink. The event also features free appetizers and live music. Women of all ages and walks of life are invited to the event.
Members of the High Country Women’s Fund will be available to share ways to become involved in volunteering your time, talent or treasures. The fund has served women and children in Avery and Watauga counties, connecting with them on a personal level through mentoring programs and service projects like “Dress for Success” or the POP Shoppe honoring Mother’s Day.
“Volunteering opens our hearts to give and receive,” stated a press release from the Women’s Fund. “POP After Hours provides a wonderful atmosphere to have fun, meet new people, learn more about our community and about ways you can give and receive.”
The High Country Women’s Fund is an initative of the High Country United Way with a mission to affect positive change for women and their families in Avery and Watauga counties.
