Watauga Arts Council’s Artfull Palette Re-scheduled March 12
Council Now Accepting Silent Auction Bids
The Artfull Palette will feature hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar in the Rosen Concert Hall lobby.

Artfull Palette attendees will enjoy performances by area students and professional artists.
A victim of this winter’s unrelenting weather, the Watauga Arts Council’s annual Artfull Palette fundraiser event was postponed from its original January date to Friday, March 12. But Cherry Johnson, executive director of the Arts Council, said the delay of the event isn’t such a bad thing.
“In the long run, that’s turning out to be a really good thing because the event is just getting better and better as time goes on,” Johnson said.
The event will take place at Rosen Concert Hall, located within the Broyhill Music Center on the ASU campus, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and feature specialty hors d’oeuvres from Bandana’s Catering, a cash bar, a silent auction and live performances ranging from bluegrass to classical.
Advance tickets are $40 for a single ticket and $75 for two through March 5; ticket prices then increase to $45 and $85, respectively. A snow date is scheduled for Saturday, March 13.
Performing at Artfull Palette will be the Watauga High School Pacers dance team, bluegrass band Amantha Mill, violinist Vanessa Chumbley and pianist Aaron Ames. Local attorney and musician Becca Eggers-Gryder will act as the emcee for the evening.
At the end of the performances, the silent auction winners can pick up their prizes while everyone enjoys cake from Hallmark Cakes and coffee from Espresso News.
Items continued to be added to the silent auction, and bidding has already started on Facebook.
“The silent auction, which was originally a very small part of the event and very small-scale, has grown since the postponement into one of the most interesting aspects of the whole project,” Johnson said.
Items in the silent auction have been posted on the Watauga County Arts Council’s Facebook page. Bids can be submitted by commenting on the posted item and stating your bid. Each item has a minimum bid, and bid increases must be in increments of $5. Online bidding will cease at 4:00 p.m. on the date of the Artfull Palette, and the online bids will become the starting bids on the bid sheets at the event.
“This will be an interesting way to experiment with a new fundraising concept,” Johnson said.
Silent auction items include private concerts by Upright and Breathin’, the Sheets Family and the Forget-Me-Nots; a framed and matted photograph of Bass Lake; a picnic tote; a one-month ad in Bangle Magazine; a hand-knitted scarf and a one-hour massage, with more items to be added.
