Funk Mixes with Celtic for St. Patrick’s Day Show at Boone Saloon
Bafoodus, Forget-Me-Nots Share Bill March 17

Local funksters Bafoodus (top) will play a St. Patrick’s Day show at Boone Saloon on Wednesday, March 17, with Celtic band, the Forget-Me-Nots. When local funksters Bafoodus scheduled a St. Patrick’s Day show at the Boone Saloon, they decided to add a little Celtic flair.
The best way to do that in the High Country is to call the Forget-Me-Nots and ask them to join in the fun.
So at 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17, the two bands will play on the same bill.
Bafoodus guitarist Andy Page admits that the pairing is “kind of an odd match.”
But the band was looking for something to set their show apart and adding the Forget-Me-Nots, which features a trio of teenage fiddle players, will certainly do that.
The experience will bring together two different sets of fans to mingle and enjoy the national holiday of Ireland.
For Bafoodus fans, the show will be a chance to hear some of the tunes that will make up the band’s new album.
Page, along with Scott Haynes (vocals and bass), Mike Runyon (keyboards) and Ryan Lassiter (drums) laid down the new tracks recently and are working to mix the album.
They probably won’t play as many cover tunes as normal and they have three tracks ready to go that have never been played live before.
“These tunes are in line with our normal sound, our mix that we’re going for,” Page said.
Page said that he expects Bafoodus to start playing around 11:00 p.m. after the Forget-Me-Nots do a 30- or 40-minute set.
The Forget-Me-Nots are made up of classically trained violinists Maura Shawn Scanlin and sisters Ledah and Willa Finck. The Finck’s father, David, backs up the group on guitar.
While the girls all take lessons for classical violin, they’ve played in a Celtic band together for more than seven years, earning a large fan base in the High Country.
They’ve played festivals like MerleFest and MusicFest ‘n Sugar Grove and hope to record a new album in the near future with some original music.
