Hayes School of Music This Week

Hayes School of Music concerts resume this week with an organ recital, a multimedia concert and student recitals.

Guild of Organists Recital Sunday
The Boone Chapter of the American Guild of Organists presents its annual chapter members’ recital this Sunday, March 14, at 4:00 p.m. in Rosen Concert Hall. Admission is free.
The program will feature music of J.S. Bach, J.P. Sweelinck, Jean Langlais, Marcel Dupré and others, played by chapter members H. Max Smith, Barbara Henderson-Julien and Joby Bell, plus ASU students Maggie Hanson, Nathaniel Brickman and Rodney Ward.
The American Guild of Organists works to promote the organ in its historic and evolving roles and to encourage excellence in the performance of organ and choral music. Membership is open to all. For more info, contact chapter dean Joby Bell at 828-262-6467.
Dr. Mark Snyder will present a multimedia concert using a laptop, video projector, clarinet, tuba and accordion on Monday, March 15, at 8:00 p.m. in the Recital Hall.
Mark Snyder Multimedia Concert March 15
Composer, performer and teacher Dr. Mark Snyder will give a concert Monday, March 15, at 8:00 p.m. in the Recital Hall. Admission is free.
Using a laptop, video projector, clarinet, tuba and accordion, Snyder creates wordless, multimedia compositions that are orchestrated with live instrument processing, prerecorded sounds and video. His works have been described as “a fantastic and colorful sonic journey of musical storytelling.”
Snyder has written for orchestra, choir, wind ensemble, various chamber combinations, multi-media, film, theatre and dance. His music has been performed throughout the United States, Argentina, Europe, New Zealand and Taiwan. His work also has been selected for numerous festivals and conferences.
Snyder released his second solo album, Messy, in January. Snyder is an assistant professor of music production and technology at Delta State University, where he directs the Electroacoustic Juke Joint.

Senior music performance major Daniel Tompkins performs a guitar recital on Tuesday, March 16, at 8:00 p.m. in the Recital Hall. Admission is free.
Student Bass Recital March 17
Sam Filip, a senior music performance major, presents a bass recital on Wednesday, March 17, at 8:00 p.m. in the Recital Hall. Admission is free.
