Jazz Society Features Vocalist Wendy Hayes Sunday
Jazz and cabaret singer Wendy Hayes has traveled all over the world during her 20-year career and will perform in Blowing Rock this Sunday.
The Blowing Rock Jazz Society’s monthly concert at the Meadowbrook Inn features professional vocalist Wendy Hayes this Sunday, March 14, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tickets are $15 for the general public, $5 for students and free for Jazz Society members.
Hayes has more than 20 years of experience singing standards, big band and jazz, as well as performing as a cabaret artist. Her career has taken her all over the world, as she has performed in lounges and clubs from the mountains of North Carolina to Tokyo.
She has also been a featured headliner on a number of cruise ships and has received accolades for her classic style and honest interpretations of songs from the Great American Songbook.
In 2009, Hayes debuted a one woman-show titled “Everything Is Rosie,” a musical tribute to the legendary Rosemary Clooney. Hayes performed the show at Lees-McRae College in August of last year.
Hayes has also received rave reviews for her cabarets “Swing It!” and “Here’s to the Ladies.” She is working on her first CD, which is currently set for a summer 2010 release.
Blowing Rock Jazz Society concerts typically take place on the second Sunday of each month. Upcoming performers include Jack Wilkins, the Page Brothers, the Noel Freidline Quintet and others.
