Burdett Performs To Benefit Lazybird Andy Christopher
Show at Black Cat Friday
Aaron Burdett, a folk-rock singer-songwriter now living in Asheville, will play a show to benefit Lazybird Andy Christopher at Black Cat in Boone this Friday, March 19. Admission is $5.
Enjoy a flapjack feast and support the welfare of animals at a pancake breakfast benefiting the Watauga Humane Society on Saturday, March 27, at Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill in Boone.
The breakfast will take place from 7:30 to 10:00 a.m. For $7 per person, Humane Society supporters will serve your choice of coffee or orange juice and a plate of pancakes with sausage.
Watauga Humane Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to all aspects of animal welfare. The current Watauga Humane Society animal shelter is located off Casey Lane in Boone. A new shelter facility is being constructed on Don Hayes Road off Old Highway 421 east of Boone.
The shelter provides housing, food, medical care and attention to homeless dogs and cats and works to find permanent, loving homes for them. In an effort to help control the pet population, the Humane Society offers low-cost spay/neuter services through its partnership with Humane Alliance in Asheville.
The organization’s pet food pantry is currently depleted, and attendees are asked to bring dry and canned dog and cat food to the pancake breakfast. The pantry provides temporary assistance to financially troubled families with pets. Because of this winter’s weather, the society has been forced to cancel its scheduled pet food drives.
Tickets are available at the Watauga Humane Society animal shelter at 200 Casey Lane and at Bare Essentials Natural Market, located at 273 Boone Heights Drive in Boone. Tickets will also be available at the door the morning of the breakfast.
