Green Mother Goods’ First Green Garden Group Meeting Friday
This Friday, March 19, at 6:00 p.m., Green Mother Goods will host its first Green Garden Group meeting. Anyone interested in starting an organic garden is welcome, as well as local farmers, experienced gardeners and suppliers of garden products.
Green Mother Goods, located at 116 West King Street in Boone, has offered earth-friendly goods and information to the local community for more than two years. The store sells fair-trade items, natural toys, organic clothing and local art. Now, Green Mother Goods will expand its business to include a Green Garden Group and a Green Garden Center.
The Green Garden Group will be a way for gardeners in the area to purchase organic and sustainable garden supplies at a discounted price. Group members will have the chance to sell starter plants, herbs, flowers, produce and supplies to others. The group will also serve as a resource for information and tips about organic gardening.
The Green Garden Center will have various organic gardening inputs and supplies, which will be locally produced as much as possible. Currently, Green Mother Goods has seeds from a local consigner, Sow True Seed. Based out of Asheville, Sow True Seed is an independent, family-owned business. The seeds are open-pollinated, with both heirloom and organic selections.
