Mountain Home Music Presents Sheets Family Sunday
The Sheets Family will perform at a Mountain Home Music breakfast concert at the Meadowbrook Inn in Blowing Rock this Sunday, August 1, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m.The Sheets Family from the Bethel community continues to express the best of this region’s musical heritage. They feature Carter Family-style songs and harmony singing, old-time banjo, fiddle and flatfoot dancing.
Mountain Home Music will present “Appalachian Traditions: The Sheets Family” this Sunday, August 1, for A Mountain Home Breakfast at the Meadowbrook Inn from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Tickets are $21 for adults, $15 for kids 10 to 15, $8 for kids 5 to 9 and free for children 4 and under. Admission to the concert includes a full buffet breakfast provided by the Meadowbrook Inn.
The Sheets Family is Randy and Deborah Jean Sheets (banjo and guitar), Kelly Sheets (fiddle) and Charlie Hart (bass).
Randy and Deborah Jean Sheets have been performing together for the past 30 years. With their daughter, Kelly, and friend, Charlie Hart, they have performed throughout the Appalachian region, and they are listed in the Blue Ridge National Heritage Directory. Performances include The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, The Library of Congress, Wayne Henderson Festival, Blue Ridge Folk Life Festival, as well as frequent appearances on Mountain Home Music.
The Sheets Family currently has two CDs to its credit: The Sheets Family and The Birds were Singing. Selections include “Keep on the Sunny Side,” “My Old Clinch Mountain Home,” “You’ve Been the Friend to Me,” “High on a Mountain,” “The River of Jordan” and many others.
